Dear Reader,
My grandparents have been together for 61 years this year, a number that boggles my mind. I can't imagine being with the same person for that long, but they've stuck it out together, as a team, and come out the other end in love with each other.
Too often these days, we see our friends and family get married, then divorced. It's become so prevalent that it's the social norm to be divorced and dating at a fairly young age. Although I'm a huge supporter of not staying in abusive or bad relationships, I wish that we had more role models in our culture to show us that it's possible to find love, stay in love, and work on relationships in a deep and lasting way.
This blog is an attempt to portray couples who have been together for a long time and still love each other and make it work.
I hope to inspire us all to create deeper and more caring relationships and work on becoming better people for those we love. In the end, it might mean compromise, it might mean putting our pride in our pockets for an argument or two, but the breadth of shared experience and supportive true love will hopefully be the bond that allows a longer relationship than those we see in Hollywood.
Cheers to everlasting love,
Jennifer
